Our Mission
WBFAA exists to elevate the professional standards of California’s fire and security industry. We develop the state’s workforce through registered apprenticeship training, continuing education, and compliance support that strengthen both individuals and companies.
What We Do
Apprenticeship Training: California’s only DAS and U.S. DOL approved apprenticeship program for fire life safety and electronic security technicians.
Continuing Education: State-approved courses to maintain technician certification and meet California’s 32-hour renewal requirement.
Compliance Support: Tools and systems that help member companies manage DAS forms, certification tracking, and wage requirements.
Industry Advocacy: Collaboration with CAA and CAFAA to support fair legislation and workforce growth.
Our History
WBFAA was founded in 1999 by leaders of CAA and CAFAA after California required technicians to hold certification or be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship. Industry leaders established WBFAA as an employer-sponsored alternative to union programs, giving companies a compliant, high-quality training option.
Our Values
Excellence in training, integrity in compliance, accessibility, collaboration, and professionalism.
