Certification Requirements

Fire life safety and electronic security technicians in California must hold current certification through the Electrician Certification Unit to work legally.

Missing your renewal deadline means you cannot legally work until your certification is reinstated.

Complete 32 hours of continuing education every three years
Submit a renewal application before expiration
Pay the required renewal fees
Provide proof of completed training
